Diversity & Inclusion
At Nissan, we strive to reflect the world we serve in our workforce. And that world is increasingly diverse and ever-moving. Diversity means growth and development opportunities for everyone, respect for all individuals and the inclusion of new ideas, viewpoints, and experiences. By encouraging respect for all individuals and sharing our unique perspectives, our company will be stronger and sustained long into the future
At Nissan, our executive leadership team is committed to diversity. The Americas Diversity Council was created to optimize and leverage diversity across our business and supports our efforts by providing guidance and top level direction.
This commitment has been acknowledged by the Human Rights Campaign, which gave Nissan a perfect score of 100 in the Corporate Equality Index, up 70 points from 2011, and one of the fastest rises in the history of the index. And the score was based in large part to Nissan’s many Diversity Programs.
We also have 15 different resource groups that support and celebrate diversity throughout our employee base, and 20% of our employees belong to at least one resource group.
Diversity Education
Our diversity education programs start with the business case for diversity, and continue supporting the management team in ensuring that new employees are encouraged to stretch their previous experiences, knowledge and education as they carry out their responsibilities.

Business Synergy
In tandem with executive sponsorship, employees develop Business Synergy Teams (BST) to connect diverse groups of employees, with shared characteristics or interests, into high functioning groups. These BSTs focus on supporting the member's achievement of professional goals, networking, enhancing business activities and decisions, and serving the communities that we live in. A few of the Business Synergy Teams currently at Nissan include:
- Women's Business Synergy Team
- Women in Manufacturing Business Synergy Team
- Multicultural Business Synergy Team
- Veterans Business Synergy Team
- Generations Business Synergy Team
- Gay-Straight Alliance at Nissan
At Nissan, leveraging our diversity is key to achieving our goal of becoming the most trusted, growing car company in the Americas.
